Summer Success: Unveiling Creative Break’s Triumph

We’re thrilled to share the incredible outcomes of our recent Creative Break summer scheme, made possible with the generous support of the Children’s Aid Committee, Jewish Child’s Day, The Tottenham Grammar School Foundation, and the government’s Holiday Activity and Food program. This program, designed to enrich the lives of underprivileged girls during the school holidays, was an absolute triumph.

During the first week of the school summer break, we welcomed 43 enthusiastic participants from low-income households to our diverse courses: confectionery, photography, pyrography, and hair styling. These courses provided not only valuable skills but also a platform for fun, personal growth, and creativity.

From 10 am to 3 pm daily, our program offered a structured and engaging schedule. Participants were treated to a warm and delicious lunch, fostering a sense of togetherness, relieving holiday hunger, and boosting energy for the day’s activities.

A standout feature of our scheme was the involvement of young women aged 18-19 from our ArtWaves program. These talented individuals led each course, imparting their expertise and creating an inspiring learning environment. Their impact was resounding, as they connected effortlessly with participants and provided a hands-on experience.

The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive. Participants shared their heartfelt thoughts: “Without Creative Break, I would sit on the couch all day long without doing anything,” and “I really enjoyed myself.” The program not only offered skill development but also a sense of purpose and camaraderie.

Equally, parents and caregivers expressed their appreciation for the program’s quality and organization. Creative Break was a valuable resource, allowing low-income families to balance work commitments while providing enriching experiences for their children.

The program’s impactive was far-reaching. It enabled us to offer a high-quality summer scheme that combined creative arts training, outdoor activities, and nutritious meals. Additionally, it empowered young adults with meaningful structured employment & leadership opportunities, providing a stepping stone for their future careers.

As we look toward the future, we’re committed to continuous improvement. Insights from participants and parents will shape future summer provisions. We aim to streamline costs without compromising quality and consider implementing suggestions such as a later start time and tailored courses for different age groups.
