Teen Action becomes a registered charity. Teen Action is born Mrs Faigy Taub, a mother of 8, fails to find culturally appropriate and affordable support for her eldest school leaver who is at risk of becoming NEET (not in employment, education or training). She approaches Mrs Yocheved Austerlitz, head teacher at a local girls’ further education college, who echoes her sentiments and together they set out on a journey to reform young people services in disadvantaged minority communities.2007

Yocheved Austerlitz is Principal at a local girls’ college and has been in the education sector since 2002. She is passionate about progression routes and personal development for vulnerable girls and is an inspiring and dedicated leader.
Sarah Bard is a community activist, expert parenting coach, EFT practitioner and popular speaker on matters related to childhood, parenting and emotional health. She is a big believer in early intervention and is also a trustee at the Sonshine Club, a local charity providing out-of-hours activities for children.
Goldie Rosenberg has a wealth of diverse experiences, including teaching English and Science in primary and secondary schools for 12 years, acting as an education consultant, Quality assurance officer, Exams officer and currently the head of courses at a local academy. She joined Teen Action in 2014, hoping to use her spare time as her family matured to affect change within the community and provide opportunities her girls were not fortunate to receive during their childhood.
Faigy Taub is a mother of 8 and the founder of Teen Action. As a parent of a low-income family from within the community, she is best placed to understand the needs of our beneficiaries. Apart from being a full-time mom, she is a community activist who volunteers for many local organisations and is co-director of Yachdov, a women’s peer support group.
Ellie Phirer, a former beneficiary of Teen Action with 6 years’ experience working and volunteering in the charitable sector, has recently come on board as the Director of the charity, supported by a grant from the Tudor Trust. A multi-tasker and work driven individual, she can often be seen working nights and weekends to ensure everything is managed to perfection. At 25 years, she brings lived experience leadership to our young people services and is the epitome of the young woman power we champion.
Ms Ellie Phirer, long-time Teen Action volunteer, comes on board as Director of our growing charity, supported by a grant from The Tudor Trust.
Within 3 weeks of the national lockdown, Teen Action set up a special telephone hotline to support digitally excluded beneficiaries during this time, closely followed by the delivery of home packs and the launch of individual and group mental health support services.

In November 2020, Teen Action is awarded the London Faith & Belief Awards under the category of ‘Supporting Women’ for our work with young Londoners from minority communities. Watch a recording of the virtual awards ceremony here.
In December 2017, Teen Action is awarded the London Youth Gold Quality Mark, a nationally recognized badge of excellence for youth provisions and a programme accredited by City & Guilds.
Teen Action celebrate a decade of supporting young women, having reached 450 beneficiaries and provided 94 individual programmes during this time.
In May 2016, Teen Action is awarded the London Youth Silver Quality Mark, a nationally recognized badge of excellence for youth provisions and a programme accredited by City & Guilds.
Following our commitment to being a youth-led organization, Teen Actions holds elections for our first Youth Advisory Group (YAG), who govern alongside trustees and support with project development and evaluation, ensuring we are user-led.
